Year Two.
My second year at UC was a blast and a huge change from anything I had experienced before. Fall semester was spent on co-op in Springfield, Ohio about an hour and a half north of Cincinnati. I was hesitant to accept the job because of the distance from my friends and family, but decided it would be a great learning experience. The company, Tech II, produces food packaging with injection molding and thermoforming. They are the only company in North America to do thermoformed in mold labeling for packaging. The company is medium size so I was able to get to know everyone very well and really felt at home there. I worked both on the production floor and on research that I was able to lead independently. For a first time co-op I had great responsibility and learned so much. I was lucky enough to be asked back for a second semester which I am currently participating in this summer.
Spring Semester I was happy to be back in Cincinnati and back on campus! I took on a new position in my sorority as the VP of Finance and was living in the house. The curriculum for this semester was for the first time courses I had never seen before as opposed to the repeated classes of my freshman year. This proved to be quite the challenge. Many late nights at the library studying and luckily a few friends to keep me company. I was able to keep focused and made it through with a 3.911!! I was so thrilled. But this semester was a wake-up call for the challenges ahead of me in Chemical Engineering and how vital time management will become through the rest of my college career.
